Our Ministries

Helping

Hands

Helping Hands is our Church food ministry which was up and running pre-Covid times. Members of our congregation generously provide non-perishable food items such as beans, soups, pasta, cereal etc, as well as some special treats too. We also have a range of baby and personal care and toiletry items. In addition to this, many people kindly give monetary donations towards this ministry which is invaluable if we need to stock up if anything additional is required.

Our ministry is not the traditional Food Bank set up. With our many contacts in Social Services and other agencies, we meet the demand at the drop of a hat. This can be the result of a text message or a telephone call. We then make up the food parcels to be as appropriate as possible –  catering for single persons right through to large families. We are also able to provide frozen meals ensuring a nutritious hearty meal to those who require it.

Helping Hands also supports specific projects at Christmas time working with statutory agencies to provide 3-course traditional Christmas dinners for both young people in care as well as those in the after-care sector.

Like many other ministries we simply desire to meet a need and provide a “helping hand” to those who find it tough at a particular point in time. Our purpose, as always, is to show the love and compassion of Jesus in a practical way.

Contact Heather Marshall, Lorraine Warnock or the Church Office for further details, or for details of our current needs.
